Bush League Logic

While President Bush thinks it doesn’t make any sense for politicians in Washington, DC to dictate time-tables to Generals 6000 miles away in a war zone in Iraq, it made even less sense for him to start the war in the first place.  No matter how many times W insists that he has a new approach, the same old Bush shines through all of his posturing, fear-mongering, and chest thumping.  The last time I looked it was exactly politicians who got us into this war so it is well passed time for them to find a resolution.  I can understand W’s reasons for deflecting responsibility from himself and his political cronies, but in all candor, how long does he expect to get away with such a superficial and disingenuous tactic?

Apparently, his approach still sells somewhere as I’ve read blogs where there have been calls to describe the political geography if the US withdraws from Iraq before we have “succeeded” in our mission there.  I have to assume these are rhetorical questions since the rephrasing of those questions in a contrarian  form  –What will the political geography be if the US remains in Iraq?– is not being asked because the answer would be the same.  No one knows with certainty.  After all the administration had no inkling of what the redrawn political terrain would look like when it initiated the war in Iraq; the morass in which we have been struggling is evidence of that lack of foresight and planning to say nothing of the blatant arrogance their ignorance engendered.
